Despite the optimism around social media and its potential to make the dissemination and sharing of information faster and more transparent, the audience is now not only divided among many different platforms but also divided among many different communities within these platforms. How both individuals and organizations can unite around a common understanding for navigating and assessing the exponential amounts of information available to people on the internet is a key challenge moving forward. The higher the intensity of our interaction in the virtual space also makes the variety of information disseminated through the internet become more diverse. We can find many positive and educative contents in the virtual worlds, but we can also find problematic contents and even many of them can be categorized as disinformation that is deliberately created and disseminated for certain interests. Smart digital citizens should be able to recognize the types of information that need to be watched and researched more closely before commenting or disseminating contents through our social media accounts.
